[NEWS] PROF. ONJE GYE-WADO, A FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF NASARAWA STATE WAS KIDNAPPED BY UNKNOWN GUNMEN

Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, a former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, has been kidnapped.

In a news release, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state police’s public relations officer, confirmed the kidnapping early on Friday.

He claimed that on Friday morning (today, April 7), gunmen broke into Gye-home Wado’s in the Gwaji village of the Wamba Local Government area of the State and took him away.

According to the police spokesman, a police tactical squad and other security officers have started a search to find the victim unharmed.

The general public, in particular the family of Prof. Onje Gye-wado, has been reassured by the Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State Command, CP Maiyaki Baba, that efforts are being made to free the victim who was kidnapped by as-yet-unidentified hoodlums early on Friday morning. Police tactical operatives have stepped up their search and rescue efforts.

According to information provided to the command, on April 7, 2023, at around 12:30 am, unidentified gunmen entered Gwagi village in the Wamba LGA, broke into Prof. Onje Gye-wado’s home and took him to an unidentified location.

Police officers from the Wamba Division rushed to the area as soon as they received the information, but the thugs had already left with the victim.

To support the ongoing search to free the hostage in good health and apprehend the perpetrators of the act, the Commissioner of Police further mobilized and dispatched reinforcement made up of Police tactical teams, military, vigilantes, and local hunters.
